Lighting of the Beacon

On Thursday 2nd June we went to Big Pit to take part in the Beacon Lighting Ceremony and celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee! Cole and Raya were representing the school as Head Boy and Head Girl and were asked to read a poem about the Queen and her being on the throne for 70 years.

Children In Need

A fantastic amount was raised for Children In Need 2021… £1,857.00!!!
We had a huge response from all the families who supported their children to do a sponsored ramble in Forest School and also contributions given for biscuits to be decorated Pudsey style!

Year 6 – WHC Virtual Tour

We have been unable to take any school trips this year due to the pandemic, but in Year 6 we recently had the opportunity to visit the town’s World Heritage Centre via a virtual tour!

New Forest School Site

After a very shaky start, we are finally well on the way to developing our second Forest School site! Last year we were awarded a grant from Bron Afon Housing Association to fund an outdoor shelter and other materials needed to create an area for outdoor learning.

Year 6 – WW2 Evacuees

This term Year 6 have been learning about World War 2, and we recently became evacuees for the day. We got to experience what life could have been like for an evacuee during the war.

Reception – Dinosaur Day

Dosbarth Coch, Dosbarth Gwyrdd and Dosbarth Glas have had a ‘ROARSOME TIME’ this week with Dinosaur Day! The pupils across the three reception classes have discussed the things they would like to learn about over the next few weeks and one of common themes was DINOSAURS!

We are really excited to tell everyone about the exciting things we have been doing to celebrate Easter! This week we have been completing all things Easter! We started the week by looking at money and paying for items.

Red Nose Day

Wow! Another excellent response by all children and staff, and a huge thank you to parents for their continued support in all school activities. Things were a little different for us this year, but we all managed to accommodate the situation safely and effectively, and had plenty of fun along the way!

Nursery – Red Nose Day

Both children and staff dressed up in red today to celebrate and raise money for Comic Relief. We started the day off with a photoshoot and then the fun began. There was lots of fun and laughter on this special day which was appropriate to the theme of the charity. The favourite activity was making an edible red nose using red icing, sprinkles and a biscuit.

Nursery – St David’s Day

Croeso! There was plenty happening on this very special day in Nursery.
The children greeted each other in welsh, we asked questions – Sut wyt ti? Sut Mae’r tywydd?, and we sang some simple welsh songs.

Nursery – World Book Day

Nursery children were very excited to show staff the fantastic costumes they were wearing, however they weren’t all happy to see that Mrs Crew had disappeared and a Spinosaurus was greeting them at the door!!

Christmas Fete

Earlier this afternoon we held our annual Christmas Fete in the sports hall. This year we had lots of different activities organised for everyone to enjoy- including music, refreshments and of course Santa’s Grotto.
