School Meals
School Meals
Our kitchen facilities are managed by Torfaen County Borough Council. Meals are paid for via the cashless catering facility. This is a secure payment site, accessed by a unique username and password. Parents will receive these at the start of the school year. Unfortunately we are unable to accept cheques or money at school. All school meals must be paid for online in advance.
A copy of the School Menu will be given to your child at the start of each term to enable parents to make informed choices (there is also a copy for you to click/download on this page). Please advise the school if your child has a food allergy, or any other dietary requirements, for example, vegetarian, Halal, etc.
A medical note must be provided for dietary requirements, and this is the policy of Torfaen County Borough Council. If your child has any specific dietary requirements please contact Torfaen County Borough Council on 01495 762200.
For parents who prefer to provide a packed lunch and drink for their child, we ask that for safety reasons, you do not provide drinks in either cans or glass bottles. We are a healthy school so we would encourage parents to provide a healthy and nutritious packed lunch. Due to children with nut allergies, we ask that anything with nuts is not permitted on site.
We all know the importance of a good nutritious meal at lunch time. If for any reason you are unable to pay for school dinners, you may be eligible for free school meals.

LUNCH MENU - 2024 / 2025
DRINKS & HEALTHY SNACKS
All children are encouraged to bring a water bottle into school each day. Children are able to access fresh water throughout the day and encouraged to drink regularly.
As a healthy school we would ask that you don’t send flavoured water, squash or fizzy drinks. Likewise, we would ask that for break time you send in a healthy snack for your child eg, fruit.
If you would prefer, children can purchase fruit from the canteen via the cashless system. Milk is available daily for all children.
BREAK TIME
Foundation Phase children have continual indoor/outdoor access throughout the day. Reception to Year 6 children also access the outdoor areas during break time and lunchtime. Please ensure that your child has a coat, as the weather can be very changeable.
LUNCH TIME
At BHVC Primary School, we recognise the opportunity that lunchtime gives children, to socialise and interact whether they have a school meal or bring a packed lunch.
School staff supervise the children, encouraging all pupils to eat their meals, and ensure appropriate behaviour is followed in the hall and outside.
