At Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary, we are committed to providing your child with the best education whilst fulfilling their potential, and regular attendance is paramount in helping us to accomplish this. The more your child attends school, the more they will learn and have the opportunity to develop new skills.
We use the Torfaen County Borough Council attendance tool ‘Strive for 95+%’ to help us promote this positive message. Please click on the image below to find out more.

General Information

All absences need to be reported directly to the school office on 01495 766 500 as soon as possible.  In the event that there is no answer, please leave a voice message, clearly stating you child’s full name, their class and a reason for their absence.
While we appreciate that pupils may occasionally be absent from school for a genuine reason- for example through ill health or medical/dental appointments, we do request that you ensure, when possible, that such visits are scheduled either at the end of the school day or during a school holiday period.
Regular attendance is essential to your child making solid progress at school, and with your ongoing support we strive to ensure that every child is able to achieve their potential here at Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary School.
Holidays should, whenever possible, be taken outside of school time.  However, we appreciate that occasionally circumstances can dictate otherwise.
Parents who wish to take their children out of school during term time must complete a Holiday Request Form and hand it in at the school office. We have copies available from the office, or alternatively you can download and print a copy to then hand in.
