This term, Year 3 will be exploring the exciting question: What makes a Fairy-tale?

To launch our topic, the children will become story detectives and lawyers as they examine clues and evidence from the story of Goldilocks before recreating her courtroom trial. Using their reasoning and speaking skills, they will decide what really happened in the Three Bears’ cottage and who was responsible!

Through reading and comparing familiar stories, including Beware of the Bears and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, children will identify key fairytale features and explore how authors can retell well-known tales from different points of view. They will then use their creativity to plan and write their own alternative endings to classic fairytales.

In STEM, children will take on exciting engineering challenges, including designing and building a house strong enough to withstand the Big Bad Wolf! In RVE, we will learn about the Christian Creation story and explore how Christians care for the world God created.

In PE, children will develop their fitness, coordination and teamwork through energetic Poundfit sessions and netball. We look forward to a term full of imagination, creativity, investigation and fun.
