Forest School

This term in our forest school sessions have been really busy.  We have been learning all about hedgehogs (Hedgehog Awareness Week) mini beasts (What’s Under Your Feet?) and pollinators, looking at how they collect nectar and pollen and what happens when there are no flowers for them or the flowers have been treated with weed killer.  Poor bees! Please get planting those wildflower seeds!

Year 6 enjoyed a session of Hapa zome, the ancient art of natural leaf printing and created bunting for outside.
We have been out in all weathers but have really enjoyed the few sunny days we have had. We have been fire lighting and cooking outside and we will be creating a natural obstacle course in preparation for sports week!
Forest School is and inspirational process that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experience in a natural environment.
All children in our school have regular forest school sessions where they have opportunities to work outside, taking part in activities individually, and in small and larger groups. They are learning to work together to overcome problems and learn new skills.

All year groups take part in in various activities such as den building, minibeasts hunts, identification of flora and fauna, and building on their abilities to work as a team.
Children enjoy these sessions and are eager to go out in all weathers. We provide wet weather gear for all children to keep them dry and protected from the elements.
“There is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothes.”
