Welsh Week - 01-05/03/2021

Welsh Week

01-05/03/2021

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and warm hearts as the Foundation Phase children celebrated their return to school with a successful ‘Welsh Week!’ Normally the children would take part in a Whole School Eisteddfod however, working in their class bubbles didn’t stop our children showing off their wonderful welsh skills!

All children competed in a ‘mini’ Year Group Eisteddfod both in class and virtually to produce amazing artwork, beautiful singing and dynamic ‘Dawnsio Gwerin’ (Folk Dance) that made us all proud to be part of our community and Wales!
The week started well celebrating ‘Dydd Gwyl Dewi/St.David’s Day’ the children looked fantastic in their costumes, many thanks to all of our families for making this possible. The Welsh competitions continued throughout the week seeing Reception children performing confidently in a group folk dance to Jac y Do, Year 1 children enjoying making and learning about the history of our traditional Welsh Love Spoons and Year 2 studying the Welsh artist Kyffin Williams to create detailed charcoal drawings.

The week ended well with year group virtual gatherings to proudly sing our National Anthem along with many other welsh songs. Finally, we celebrated everyone’s Welsh achievements by awarding all children with a ‘Wythnos Gymraeg Certifcate’.

Da iawn bawb!
