We were so lucky to have such beautiful weather for our Nursery sports day. All the children, from both the morning session and afternoon were dressed according to their colour team – red yellow blue or green. They were all excited to start the races after plenty of practise sessions over the last few weeks.

Every child wore their sunhat and had plenty of drinks to keep them hydrated. Families were able to purchase drinks on the field while they were cheering. Plenty of supporters turned out to cheer the children on in the morning and afternoon.

The children were very pleased to be able to show their families what they could do. The first race was a straight running race. All children raced to the finish line where Yr 6 sports ambassadors were waiting to give out the stickers.  Next race was the beanbag shuttle. All the children needed to concentrate and collect all their colour beanbags before sprinting to the finish line. More stickers were waiting for them at the finish line along with drinks.

Finally the last race was the egg and spoon. As this could get very messy using eggs, we used bats and beanbags instead ! Lots of beanbags ended up on the grass but everyone kept going to reach the finish. We were all so proud of the children trying their best and even though some very shy – they all joined in. Every child had a medal to take home for their amazing effort.

Family members also had a chance to show us their running skills during the day with the parent races. The children thought this was great fun to see their mums, dads and grandads running. Everyone was exhausted by the end of the day, especially the staff!!
