Green Class / Dosbarth Gwyrdd

Mrs L. Jones

Mrs M. Page

Our topic this term is the Beach! In keeping with the topic we are looking at the wonderful book ‘The lighthouse keeper’s lunch’. We will be looking at all things to do with the beach and lighthouses and going on a very exciting trip to Barry Island. We want to become ambitious capable learners!
Every week we will be looking at different parts of the Beach and using this in our cross curricular numeracy and literacy lessons! We are going to be counting shells, estimating amounts of sea animal as well as looking at the different temperatures. We will be sorting healthy and non-healthy lunches to help us become healthy and confident individuals. We will look back at different beaches across Wales and compare them to past and present pictures.

We are excited to write letters to Mr Grinlin about our favourite lunch and order the story of ‘The lighthouse keeper’s lunch’. We will be writing what each character could be saying in speech bubbles and recounting our visit to Barry Island. We are going to learn about lighthouses and their jobs. After looking at the different lunches in the book we will write our own recipes for creating the perfect sandwich for Mr Grinlin!  We chose to have an ice cream shop and a beach shop in the role play to help us become enterprising and creative contributors where we can sell all different items.
