Welsh Week

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and warm hearts as the Foundation Phase children celebrated their return to school with a successful 'Welsh Week!' Normally the children would take part in a Whole School Eisteddfod however, working in their class bubbles didn't stop our children showing off their wonderful welsh skills!

Croeso! There was plenty happening on this very special day in Nursery. The children greeted each other in welsh, we asked questions – Sut wyt ti? Sut Mae’r tywydd?, and we sang some simple welsh songs.

Nursery children were very excited to show staff the fantastic costumes they were wearing, however they weren’t all happy to see that Mrs Crew had disappeared and a Spinosaurus was greeting them at the door!!

Today, children from years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Cwmbran Stadium to take part in the Torfaen Sports Development 'all girls' five-a-side football festival.  Supported by County in the Community, Torfaen Leisure Trust and local football clubs...

Safer Internet Day

We have recently been working in our Herritelly TV Studio to research, write and produce a video as part of Safer Internet Day 2020, to help promote the positive message of keeping ourselves and our personal information safe when we are online.

Today the Little Voices Team went to meet with our intergenerational group at the Workmen’s Hall.  We walked from school down to the hall, paying attention to all of the shops in Broad Street.

Christmas Fete

Earlier this afternoon we held our annual Christmas Fete in the sports hall. This year we had lots of different activities organised for everyone to enjoy- including music, refreshments and of course Santa’s Grotto.

Today we went to the Workmen's Hall in Blaenavon for a Dementia Friendly Training Day to meet people who have dementia, and to learn about how it affects someone’s body and the impact it has on their life. We were very lucky to meet Gavin, who was happy to share his story with us.

Today the Eco Council visited Greenmeadow Farm for an Eco Day to learn about migration and climate change. We met some pupils from other schools who were going to be taking part in the workshops with us. First we had to look for facts around the room and work out which ones were true or false.

Children In Need

Today, the whole school got dressed up in Pudsey onesies and other fun clothes to raise money for Children In Need. In the morning we started things off by taking part in The Big Morning Move with Joe Wicks, which got everyone moving and was a lot of fun!

PlayMaker Award

Today, pupils from Key Stage 2 took part in the PlayMaker Award. The aim of the award is to teach us valuable leadership skills through physical activity, so that we are then able to plan our own sports activities with our peers and some of the other year groups in our school.
